  • How to find the right floor scrubber?
5 Things to Consider before Purchasing a Floor Scrubber (2022 Floor Scrubbers Reviews) 1. Floor type What is your flooring type? This is considered the most important factor before purchasing a floor scrubber. It is very essential to find a floor scrubber that can help you clean your floor but not damage it. Some floor types are more sensitive to moisture. Does your target floor scrubber suck up the water nicely? Are there separate switches to control the brush, the feeding of solution/water, and the sucking up of the dirty water so that it is easier to pinpoint a problem and avoid leaving excessive water on the floor? Is there a switch to adjust the incoming water flow? How easy it is to clean the filters? These are all details one needs to take into consideration before placing an order. It is ideal if you can easily switch between heavy duty brushes to different colors of burnishing pads when you want to use the same floor scrubber on different types of floor. 2. One brush or two? Burning pads of what size? Brushes can scrub the floor, sweep out and clean the dirt in between the tiles easily. Many floor scrubbers in the market allow you to easily change from a brush to a burnishing pad to clean different surfaces, but not all models have this capability. It would be nice if you can see some demo video clips on how to operate the floor scrubber, how to change the pads/brush, how to drain & clean the sewage tank, and some other common scenarios before you spend a few thousand dollars on a new floor scrubber. You can also purchase burning pads of different colors for different types of floor. White pads are usually the most gentle. Black pads are for the hardest floor. Red pads are in between the white and the black. In addition, there are several common sizes for the burnishing pad. Do you prefer a brush with a diameter of 17, 20, or 22 inches? Now there are some floor scrubbers equipped with dual brushes to cover bigger areas in less time but you need to be willing to pay more to get such dual-brush machines. 3. Ease of use & Size of the floor scrubber Other than ordering the most economical floor scrubbers, it’s a great idea to check other people’s feedback to see how easy it is to use, maneuver, and maintain the floor scrubber. Some floor scrubbers are bigger or heavier but at the same time more powerful than others. It’s best to choose the right size since the bigger it gets, the heavier and the more costly it would be. While Asian customers like to use floor scrubbers with smaller water tanks, American customers prefer to use one with bigger water tanks to cover bigger areas without having to add/drain the water frequently. In addition, is it easy to add/drain water from the solution tank or sewage tank? Is it easy to clean the sewage tank? If you need to clean narrow aisles, make sure the width of your machine is smaller than the width of your passageway. If you need to move the floor scrubber between different job sites, the heavier/powerful model might not be the best fit. These are some issues we should think ahead before placing an order. 4. Power type of floor scrubber The most common floor scrubber types include corded, cordless, push-behind, self-propelled and ride-on floor scrubbers. What is the right type for you? It depends mostly on how big the area you need to cover and how much money you are willing to spend. The corded floor scrubbers are usually the most affordable model to cover smaller areas with accessible power outlets. Corded floor scrubbers leave you no worries about getting replacement batteries in the future. However, do you have a good quality extension cord long enough to go with the corded floor scrubber? With the line lying on the floor and moving around with the machine, would it become a safety hazard in your working environment? These need to be taken into serious consideration before a buying decision is made. If you have more budget/freedom in placing an order, the self-propelled models make it easier to clean the floor compared to the push-behind floor scrubbers, and the ride-on models make the cleaning job a piece of cake while taking a ride on the floor scrubber. Do not assume the battery-powered floor scrubbers always come with a charger. Make sure it’s included or you have to add that in your cart while purchasing the battery-powered floor scrubber. How many hours can you use the machine with a full charge? How long does it take to get a full charge? Lead batteries are more affordable but heavier and with shorter lifespans. If you can afford the difference, lithium batteries would be considered a better choice/buy in the long run.Not all machines are created equal and more expensive machines might not let you work for longer hours. It is a must to read the specifications of your target machine carefully and patiently since each floor scrubber is considered a major investment and you want to use it for a long time, trouble-free. 5. Warranty & customer support Different manufacturers offer different warranty which usually varies from 3 months to 2 years. You might want to think twice before purchasing the floor scrubber not having a good & long enough warranty policy. If the customer support is not timely or good enough, it might be a headache to get the machine fixed or to find the right replacement parts easily. Here are a few highly recommended floor scrubbers that you might be interested: For grocery stores, small shops, restaurants, & dining halls: RT50AC, corded 22” floor scrubber, most economic & no need to worry about charging/replacing the batteries. For gyms, schools, churches, temples, apartment buildings, small hotels, bigger restaurants, & storage places: RT50, Battery-powered 22” Floor Scrubber. It’s affordable, efficient, versatile and durable. For hospitals, warehouses, resorts & convention centers: RT70, Ride-on Floor scrubber with lithium battery. Use it for 5 hours without sweating while cleaning larger areas. Our Top Picks Most economic Floor Scrubber 22” Brush: RT50AC Pro: electric, no batteries, lighter to move around between different working sites, no need to charge the machine for 8 hours, durable, and there is no need to replace the batteries in the long run. Con: It’s corded so there is a limit on how far you can go unless you pair it up with a longer, high quality & safe extension cord. You cannot use RT50AC in a powerless location, and the power cord might be twisted by the operators taking numerous turns. https://www.floorscrubberusa.com/product-page/Walk-Behind-Floor-Scrubber Most popular Floor Scrubber 22” Brush: RT50 Pro: RT50 is more affordable with 2 lead batteries. It takes 8 hours to fully charge the two lead batteries and you can use the floor scrubber for 5 hours with a full charge. It is safe to charge the batteries overnight before you leave the job site, and start using it on the following day when you report to work. Con: Lead batteries are heavier so it requires more strength to push the floor scrubber forward but it wasn’t heavy at all. However, lead batteries’ life span is shorter than lithium batteries. You might need to replace the lead batteries in about 2 years if you use a floor scrubber frequently. https://www.floorscrubberusa.com/product-page/battery-powered-floor-scrubber Better battery/investment in the long run: RT50+, RT50D+ or RT70 Pro: Lithium battery is lighter with less charging time so the users have better experiences. It only takes 3.5 hours to charge it fully and you can use the floor scrubber for 5 hours with a full charge. You can charge the battery overnight and the smart charger will cut off the power once the battery is fully charged. Most machines come with a free charger like RT50+, RT50D+ or RT70. Be sure to check with the seller about how to charge the machine, and if the charger is included before you place the order. Con: You might need to purchase a new lithium battery in the long run and it’s not cheap. Right now one lithium battery for RT50+, RT50D+, or RT70 is about USD $700 but the battery life should be longer than 4 years. Compared to RT50 which uses 2 lead batteries at about $200 each, with a 2-year warranty on it (It will cost $800 to get 2 sets of 2 lead batteries & use the floor scrubber for 4 years), it is still cheaper to get the RT50+ & other models with one lithium battery and use it for 4+ years (It will cost $700 on 1 lithium battery to use for 4+ years). Note: You can’t just change the batteries of the floor scrubber easily. The cable lines and structure are different between a floor scrubber with lead batteries and one with a lithium battery. Therefore you need to make up your mind on which model/battery you want to work with in the long run before you purchase a floor scrubber. It’s equipped with one lithium battery so it’s light and only takes 3.5 hours to get a full charge and you can use it for 5 hours. It is also low maintenance and super easy to drain and clean the sewage tank. Con: The only disadvantage of RT70 is the cost which is a little more than $4,000 in early March 2022. However, many similar ride-on floor scrubbers in the market cost more than $7,000. RT70 is not that costly compared to its competitors, and it does perform similar cleaning tasks beautifully RT70: https://www.floorscrubberusa.com/product-page/ride-on-floor-scrubber-rt-70 Self-propelled Floor Scrubber 22” Brush: RT50D or RT50D+ Pro: It is so easy to use a RT50D or RT50D+to clean the floor. Some people just used it once and fell in love with it. They never want to go back to the hand-pushed floor scrubbers. Just push the toggle forward and the floor scrubber will move forward. It’s just that easy. Human supervision is still needed since this is not an expensive robot floor scrubber that usually costs more than $30,000 per unit. In early March 2020, the spring sale price of RT50D is about $3,199 and the same model with lithium battery, RT50D+, is $3399. Con: You might forget that your floor scrubber is still working and move on to a new task while it’s cleaning your floor. Don’t forget to turn off the machine before you start working on some other tasks. • How to unclog the floor scrubber?
You need to inspect the drain and vacuum hose for clogs or leaks. Oftentimes, flushing the vacuum hose with clean water should dislodge any debris.
  • Should I go with a brush or burnishing pads?
It depends on which kind of floor you are cleaning. You can visit each product/machine page to see which machine is the right one for you.
  • What is the best way to extend the life of a floor scrubber?
Regular routine maintenance is the key. For instance, it is imperative that both of the solution & recovery tanks are emptied at the end of every cleaning procedure. It is better to clean these two tanks with clean water after each usage. Recovery tank is the one that collects the dirty solution that is removed from the floor. If the mixture is left in the recovery tank, it might be hardened at the bottom of the tank, making it difficult to remove. You might want to leave the tank lids open to reduce the chance of mold, mildew, and unpleasant odors. In addition, the squeegee itself should also be removed, washed, and wiped dry.
