Floor Scrubber Won’t Move?
If your floor scrubber turns on but won’t move forward or backward, don’t assume the drive motor has failed.
The problem may be caused by a simple operating step, low battery power, an emergency stop, a control setting, an obstruction, or a loose connection.
Start with the quick checks below before replacing any parts.
1. Check the Battery & Power
Make sure the machine has enough battery power to operate normally.

Check the battery level on the display or indicator.

If the battery is low, fully charge the machine before testing again.

Make sure the machine powers on normally and does not show a low-battery warning.
After charging, restart the machine and test the drive function again.
2. Check the Emergency Stop
If your machine has an emergency stop button, make sure it is fully released.

A pressed emergency stop can prevent the machine from moving even when the machine is powered on.

Twist or pull the emergency stop button to return it to the normal operating position.

Turn the machine off and back on, then try moving it again.
Make sure the emergency stop is completely released before continuing.
3. Check the Direction & Drive Controls
Make sure all controls required for movement are in the correct operating position.

Select Forward or Reverse properly.

Activate the drive control for your model, such as the drive paddle, handle switch, accelerator pedal, or safety switch.

Return the controls to neutral and try again if the machine does not respond.
Some models will not move unless the direction and safety/drive controls are activated correctly.
4. Check the Wheels & Underside
Turn the machine off before inspecting the wheels and underside.

Check around the drive wheels and casters for string, plastic wrap, hair, or other debris.

Make sure nothing is caught around the wheel or preventing it from turning.

Remove any visible obstruction and check that the wheels can move normally.
If the machine still won’t move after these four checks, continue to the troubleshooting steps below.

STEP-BY-STEP TROUBLESHOOTING
Complete each step before moving to the next one
Low battery voltage can sometimes allow the machine to power on while preventing the drive system from operating normally. Fully charge the batteries and test the machine again. If the machine is not charging normally, see our Floor Scrubber Not Charging troubleshooting guide.
Make sure the emergency stop is released and all required safety controls are in their normal operating position. Depending on the model, these may include the operator presence switch, handle switch, seat switch, drive paddle, or accelerator pedal. Some machines will not move unless all required safety conditions are met.
Test both forward and reverse operation. If the machine moves in one direction but not the other, the issue may be related to the direction switch, wiring, controller, or another drive-system component. Make a note of which direction works and which direction does not before contacting technical support.
Turn the machine off before inspecting the wheels and drive area. Check for debris wrapped around the wheels, objects blocking wheel movement, damaged wheels, loose components, or other visible mechanical damage. Remove any obstruction before testing the machine again.
With the machine turned off, inspect all accessible electrical connections related to the drive system. Check for loose connectors, disconnected wires, damaged cables, burned connectors, or signs of overheating. Do not attempt electrical repairs unless you are qualified or have been instructed by technical support.
If the batteries, operating controls, safety switches, wheels, and visible electrical connections all appear normal but the machine still does not move, the drive motor, controller, wiring, or another drive-system component may require further diagnosis.
